Marriage is a love, trust and giving commitment between two partners, a man and a woman. It is one of the Church’s seven Sacraments and therefore, anyone wishing to receive it has to be utterly ready, aware, mature and merciful to begin this journey with God’s blessing and the accompaniment of the Virgin Mary.
Any of the four churches of Our Lady of Lebanon Sanctuary can be reserved for the wedding ceremony:
1. Basilica
3. Forgiveness
4. Sanctuary or Mother of Light
Before celebrating the wedding ceremony in Our Lady of Lebanon Sanctuary, the following is required (refer to the parish priest):
- Baptism certificate + Affidavit of Bachelorhood (groom) + Affidavit of Spinster ship (bride) from their parish priest
- Prenuptial medical tests
- Marriage Preparation sessions attended at the parish
- Once the required documents are presented to the groom’s diocese, a Marriage License is issued
- This license has to be certified by the Maronite Diocese of Jounieh Aramoun, then presented to the person in charge of the reservations
To obtain the Marriage certificate after the wedding ceremony:
- Affidavit of marriage is issued by the Sanctuary at the end of the ceremony
- Marriage certificate is issued by Darooun-Harissa mayor
- Seal of the certificate at the Sanctuary
- Approval and signature of the certificate in Bkerke
- Signature of the Civil Status officer in Jounieh – Kesrwan
- Signature of the Civil Status officer in the groom’s village
- Signature of the Civil Status officer in the bride’s village.
